Qwo

What is Qwo?

Have you been struggling with stubborn cellulite on your buttocks? You're not the only one–it's thought that nine in ten women will experience cellulite at some point in their lives. Cellulite dimples are not caused by fat, but rather result from the thickening of fibrous bands under the skin, making them frustratingly impervious to changes in diet, and exercise. Qwo, the first and only injectable approved by the FDA for treatment of moderate to severe cellulite in the buttocks of adult women, can help.

Qwo contains collagenases, a class of enzymes that target the fibrous bands under the skin. Though the exact mechanism of action by which Qwo works is not fully known, it is thought that these enzymes help release the tension caused by these bands, stimulate the growth of new collagen, and aid in fat redistribution.

What can I Expect from Treatment?

Qwo has been found to be effective in reducing the appearance of moderate to severe cellulite in the buttocks of adult women. A course of treatment involves three injection appointments at three week intervals. Though some patients report seeing improvement earlier, final results are typically observed approximately one month after their final treatment.

While there is no downtime after a Qwo treatment, significant bruising can occur following injections. Though the bruising tends to be less severe following treatments two and three than after the first treatment, we recommend that patients do not to schedule any of their injection visits prior to events or travel where the bruising may be visible if this is a concern.
